Welcome to Elkhart Hill Farm – Formerly the Historic Gillett Farm
Established in 1868 by John Dean Gillett, Elkhart Hill Farm—once known as the Old Gillett Farm—has been a cornerstone of Central Illinois heritage for over 150 years. Stewarded by eight generations of the Gillett family, the land was entrusted to Court and Karen Conn in 2018 to carry on its legacy. Both families share a deep commitment to history and preservation, ensuring the spirit of the past continues to thrive. As you wind up the drive toward the hilltop, the view from the highest point in Central Illinois offers a breathtaking reminder of the land’s enduring story.
Elkhart Hill Farm: Rooted in History, Growing with Purpose
Carrying on the legacy of those who came before, Elkhart Hill Farm remains a working family farm nestled on 40 scenic acres of woodlands, fields, and pastures. Perched at the top of the hill is the historic private residence, surrounded by a collection of barns, stables, and outbuildings, while a charming cottage rests near the base. Since 2020, we’ve been restoring and revitalizing the land, cultivating a thriving vineyard, orchard, gardens, and apiary—each playing a role in the farm’s continued growth and renewal.
